There's an adage that when fundraising, ask for advice. I don't quite believe in that.
I think it's important to always ask for advice, whether fundraising or not. Furthermore, when asking for advice, actually ask something intellectually robust. Don't just go through the motions of asking but really have no real query behind it.
The reason is it all goes back to authenticity. People pick up if an ask is a genuine ask, or fake. People form impressions over time. How you ask today impacts how authentic you are perceived.
