I believe in local founders creating local products. I believe that local founders who understand the market and culture are the only ones capable of building a successful local company.
I do not believe that foreign founders should go into a local market and blindly implement a foreign model. One, it doesn't work and the market results will show that. Two, it creates a perverse signal as local ecosystems need to find local heroes, not foreign. Only then will the next generation of entrepreneurs be inspired and the virtuous circle created.
I do believe that foreign founders can be successful. But if they serve the local community, I find it harder to believe that they can be successful. There are a lot of context between and within culture that cannot be rationalized and learned in a short amount of time.
